Exporting to Australia;
I recently had an inquiry to export some pigeons to Australia. I emailed John Nelson who is well versed in such transactions and this was his reply. (Karl Rau)
Hi Karl,
It is not just that simple. The quarantine station in
Australia will take 180-200 pigeons at a time. All birds must go in from one
shipper. That part of the cost is $14,000 for this space whether you put in
18 pigeons or 180 pigeons. It is a group effort. Birds must be in
pre-quarantine for 45 days under vet supervision before being shipped. This
is a big coordinated effort. Also birds cannot be vaccinated for PMV-1 so
they will have to be young birds. John
